"I feel my work embodies the theme of female empowerment because by using myself as the main focus of my work, I am able to further understand myself as a female as well as creating a stronger bond with myself in general. The work is self-reflective, I find it empowering to use my image within my work because I have to force myself to become comfortable with my appearance fairly quickly and having other people view and make assumptions about me from viewing my work and reading the text."
